VHM headquarters in Bunschoten, The Netherlands.
VHM, located in Bunschoten in The Netherlands, was founded in 1969. During the first years the company operated as a small machine shop for local farmers, having a small barn as its housing. After a few years VHM moved to a bigger premises, where it was able to establish further growth.
Since the early seventies of the past century, VHM has been active as a manufacturer of road wheels for military tracked vehicles. Several offset contracts gave VHM the opportunity to become a leading player in the international road wheel business.
In the early nineties of the pas century, VHM started, due to continuing cutbacks in defense budgets, to develop cost saving solutions for military usage. For the road wheel business this implied that VHM also focused on the refurbishment of used road wheels. Today, refurbishment is a material part of VHM’s road wheel division. VHM also started the development of a simulator for usage in artillery training. In close co-operation with TNO, the Dutch research organization, VHM developed the LARIT. This simulator has evolved to a state-of-the-art solution for Howitzer Crew Training.
The original machine shop was also able to realize growth. Through continuous investments in resources, VHM succeeded to become a reliable, respected and leading provider of industrial services to a steadfast customer base from a variety of industries.
Since 2004, VHM is also active in the offset business related to Land Systems. The company was awarded the contract for the production of the turret and cradle for the new Dutch Pzh2000 by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. A year later, VHM became the Dutch industrial partner of BAE Systems Hägglunds by winning the CV9035NL contract. In this project VHM acts as the key company for the Dutch defense industry, being responsible for manufacturing and outsourcing various parts, the complete turret assembly, the integration of the turret with the vehicle, testing and delivering 178 vehicles to the Dutch customer between 2007 and 2011.
VHM is positive about the future and is willing to continue to invest in new technologies in order to keep up its reputation and leading positions.
