Artillery is usually used for indirect fire. This implies that the gun crew has no visual perception of their target. Information about the aiming, target coordinates and suitable ammunition are directed by the fire control post. The fire control post receives its information from forward observers. There are several suppliers of simulators for the forward observer.

VHM’s indoor and outdoor HCT’s can be linked with both forward observer trainers and operational forward observers. The result is an integrated training concept called (Advanced-) Closed Loop Artillery Simulation System, (A-)CLASS. VHM has already made several integrations.
